The College of Psychologists of British Columbia is the regulatory body for the profession of psychology in British Columbia. The College`s role is to protect the public interest by regulating the practice of psychology and monitoring the practice of psychology practitioners. The College sets the standards for the practice of psychology. The practice of psychology in B.C. is regulated under the Health Professions Act (HPA), the Psychologists Regulation, the Bylaws and the Code of Conduct.
The College represents the joint participation of the public and the profession in striving to ensure that the public receives competent and ethical psychological services from qualified providers.
Under the Health Professions Act, the Board of the College consists of six elected registrants of the College and three government appointed public members. The Registrar is appointed by the Board and is an ex-officio member of all College committees. For the College of Psychologists of British Columbia, the Registrar is also the Chief Executive Officer.
